Abstract

Pencemaran lingkungan masih menjadi permasalahan yang cukup serius di berbagai negara di dunia sehingga diperlukannya hukum yang digunakan untuk meminimalisir pencemaran lingkungan. Adapun tujuan dari artikel ini adalah untuk menyelidiki kontribusi hukum lingkungan sebagai upaya preventif pencemaran. Metode yang digunakan merupakan metode deskriptif kualitatif menggunakan metode literture review dengan cara mengulas beberapa artikel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan; (a) Terdapat beberapa definisi hukum lingkungan, salah satunya adalah hukum yang mengatur tatanan lingkungan hidup, dimana lingkungan mencakup semua benda dan kondisi, termasuk di dalamnya manusia berada dan mempengaruhi kelangsungan hidup serta kesejahteraan manusia dan jasad-jasad hidup lainnya, (b) Hukum lingkungan memiliki kontribusi penting dalam melindungi lingkungan, kesehatan manusia, dan mendorong pembangunan berkelanjutan. Tujuan hukum lingkungan hidup adalah untuk menjamin kelestarian sumber daya alam bagi generasi sekarang dan generasi mendatang, serta mengatur kegiatan manusia yang berdampak terhadap lingkungan hidup.
